The release press of the initiative Housing for All from February 2nd 2013
From yesterday, the dormitory in Krásné Březno is without the flowing water, without the electricity and the heat supply. Inside the dormitory still reside 40 original inhabitants including children, who can’t find housing, which would correspond with their financial possibilities. Volunteers from the initiative still support them and allow at least the delivery of hot meals to people.
„The situation is seriously critical and we call responsible authorities to start immediately to solve it constructively“, says the speaker of the initiative Dalibor Záhora. „Mainly, we turn to the social department of municipality in Ústí nad Labem to realize proactive steps and to protect children and their rights“, he continues. In the dormitory, there is as well a familly with a boy, who is afflicted by Down syndrome. According to our information, nobody from responsible officials has dealed with it.
„We ask for a help also the civil society and non-profit and charitative organizations. We are not able to solve within few days the situation, which wasn’t able to solve neither the State administration, nor the city municipality, nor Člověk v tísni during several month“, says the deputy of families and the Roma activist Mariposa Čonková.
„From yesterday, we have already examined possible free flats from the list, which the organization Člověk v tísni published. But we have found a discrepancy between the new published list and offers of flats, which have been offered to families from Předlice within individual plans“, describes the situation Lenka Novotná.
In files of Mrs Iveta Jaslová, there is mentioned only one particular offer of two flats 1+1 and 2+1, at the owner Mr. Gombár, from December 11th 2012. Mrs. Jaslová also refuses the claim that they would not try to find housing actively. „Particularly flats in the street U jeslí, we found ourselves. We wanted to move there, but representatives of Člověk v tísni, who dealed with the owner, later told us that the owner withdrew from the offer, because other tenants protested and did not want Roma people as their neighbours“, says Iveta Jaslová, the one of residents from the evicted house in Předlice. In the case of next two other women from Předlice, there wasn’t broken the cooperation with Člověk v tísni and they are still its clients, but these days, we don’t know about any particular activity of this organization.
